Chris Claremont has encountered more success than most writers ever dream of. His stories have achieved best-seller status, won numerous awards, and are trend-setters for the industry. Although best known for his work on Marvel Comic's X-Men series, he has written other seminal characters such as Batman and Superman; originated several creator-owned series; is published throughout the world in many different languages; authored nine novels; and even had his first video game premiere in Spring 2006. His initial unbroken 17 year run on Marvel Comics The Uncanny X-Men is the stuff of industry legend. During that tenure he took a lackluster title and transformed it into the dominant, best-selling title in the industry. His run culminated with the launch of the new title, X-Men, whose first issue sold over 7.6 million copies. No one has yet come close to breaking this record. It is a conservative estimate that Chris has sold in excess of 500,000,000 comics, world wide.

We're kicking off a new Monday night show as Chuck Moore and Eric Ratcliffe grab a week's worth of comics and go over what's good, what's not so good and what should be alltogether avoided. From the big two to the smaller companies Eric and Chuck read it all so you know what's worth reading. Along the way, they talk with a few creators and work hard to pull together a new feature within the Related Recap world right before your eyes, iPod and even web browser.

This week's show is probably the longest Why I Love Comics will run anytime soon as we're playing catchup. About three weeks worth of books have crossed our table since the last written edition of Eric's column and we're playing catch up with this first show. We had to reschedule things just a bit for Episode #34 and, in the end, we found ourselves sharing a slightly different format for the Related Recap. This week we take a look at some of the books you've sent our way, touch upon a couple hot topics from the last week in comics and talk with small press creator Sean Colllins. We're playing around with a new type of episode that will jump into the mix once month and this is our first forage into uncharted waters.
