Matthew Smith teaches Comic Books as Culture at Wittenberg University and explains why comics have such a difficult time finding acceptance and how pioneering researchers have made progress in promoting the serious study of comics as an art form. Dr. Smith is also co-author of the first college textbook for comics art studies, The Power of Comics: History, Form, & Culture.
